ABOUT WEST GAIT RANCH
West Gait is a private ranch located in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains specializing in raising quality Missouri Fox Trotter horses for pleasure, trial, and versatility riding.
The owners Nicole and Fred are passionate about the Fox Trotter and the acreage lifestyle.
Our goal is to develop a breeding program which will highlight what the Missouri Fox Trotter has to offer.
Our detailed training program is based on foal imprinting and natural horsemanship.
ABOUT FRED
When Fred met Nicole, “city boy” was introduced to the “country” way of life. Never backing away from a challenge Fred took to learning about the equine species. His love of the outdoors and the opportunity to get to faraway places on the back of a horse intrigued him. Now fifteen years later, he hauls his horses to and from Arizona stopping along the way to ride. Camping on the weekend in the Rocky Mountains with his horse is one of his favorite past times. Fred is always interested in experiencing new trails and meeting new friends on the trail and around the campfire.

ABOUT NICOLE
Since Nicole was a little girl she has loved horses. It was not until she was in her early 20’s that she could afford to own and take care of her very own horse. Over the next 30 years’, horses have always been in her life. As Nicole’s horse journey advanced she recognized not only was having a well-trained horse important but the significance of having a well breed horse, particularly as it relates to the gaited horse breed, was equally important.
