Destiny is a phenomenal 10-year-old mare.  She was born and trained by Simone Guenther at Dusty Spur Ranch.  This mare has the mind, gait, disposition, and confirmation of a superb Missouri Fox Trotter.  Destiny got her basic training, “First Step” and trail experience in and around Scottsdale, Arizona.

Destiny has a clear, flawless flat foot walk and a very consistent smooth foxtrot as well as nice canter.  She is considered a finished trail horse – just point and go.  She is in your pocket and truly has the desire to please. Destiny enjoyed her first summer with us in 2022 in Canada and did very well on the mountain trails of the Canadian Rockies.

This past April 2024 Destiny became a mom for the first time!  It was no surprise that Destiny is a great mother.  She is an attentive and caring mare to her newborn foal and readily shared her new bundle of energy with us as if it was the most nature thing to do.  This mare stands 15.1hh and is a 5 in her temperament and is best suited for intermediate riders as she is sensitive and very well trained.

Like her father Velvet’s Leonard, Emma is strong and courageous.  She is very curious and always very eager to play.  In the field and under saddle she demonstrates her natural athletic abilities and ground covering gait at all speeds.  Emma is a very loyal and kind mare – traits which are very common to the breed. Emma is not for sale as she expanding her training with some working equitation and being introduced to some classical dressage.

Known around the ranch as “Stella” she is a direct daughter of Southern Sunrise a two-time world champion and leading sire of world champions and world grand champions with the MFTHBA.  Stella is a very forward traveling mare with an extremely smooth gait, both at the fox trot and canter.  At 15.3 hands she is our tallest mare.  Having proven that she is an excellent mother she is successfully bred to Miller Ranch’s Arizona Outlaw’s McLaren M.R. with a early August foaling date.

“Gracie” has the sweetest temperament and always willing to please. Beautifully put together, her gait and head shacking rhythm at the fox trot is spectacular.  She is very affectionate and loveable. Hard to scare, she is very sensible on the trail and always a willing and eager partner. Gracie is a super trail horse and recently found a new trail partner and is living in Stettler, Alberta.  We hope to see Bob and Gracie on the mountain trails soon.

Paolo is always ready to go.  Purchased from Miller-Ranch in Arizona as a two-year-old, Paolo was trained following a disciplined training program called Frist Step, Step 2 – the Basics and Step 3 – Fine Tuning.   Paolo has extensive trail experience having been ridden throughout the Rocky Mountains, Arizona and Utah including Monument Valley. Paolo is a thinker and always up to any challenge such as climbing a mountain – the more difficult the better.  He loves to please and prefers a job to do with an all-day work attitude and stamina to get it done. Paolo is not for sale.

Riden in the Rocky Mountains as well as the Arizona desert Turbo has lots of trail experience. After spending the previous two winters in Arizona, he now has completed his gait training including learning working equitation, lightness, and balance.

Turbo has a smooth flat foot walk, faster stepping foot walk for the trial, a foxtrot and canter.  He opens gates, does obstacles, river crossings, hills, and rugged terrain with ease.  He’s about a 3 to 4 in temperament and can dog walk so you can ride with your quarter horse friends.  If you have somewhere fast to go, he too can keep up with your very forward moving horse friends. At 6 years of age Turbo has done lots already and with each passing year he will only get better.

Up to date with all vet care including teeth, vaccinations, and travel documents (Coggins). No past injuries.  Great for farrier.  Amazing feet. Can go without shoes. Cross ties, bathes, hauls and rides out well in a group or with one other horse.  He has overnighted in standing stalls in the mountains and spent many overnight stops at rodeo grounds or private barns from Calgary to Arizona.

Touchdown was our first MFT and was purchased as a two-year-old from Miller-Ranch located in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Touchdown taught us much about this amazing breed and symbolizes what a great Fox Trotter horse is.  His sire, the late GMC’s Black Velvet passed to him his natural foxtrot, rhythm and beautiful headshake.   A very special horse and a truly outstanding luxury gelding ready for the trail, for the competition or even a parade.  Thank you, Miller-Ranch, for assisting us by making a video so that he could find his new home with Janet and Doug in Boise, Idaho.

Iceman is a regal, light palomino gelding, born on March 12, 2022.   Iceman’s lineage includes ancient lines that has given him lots of natural rhythm, great confirmation, and a good mind. Already an eyecatcher with his long shoulder length mane Iceman will be a taller horse and will likely mature over 15.2hh.  Iceman embraces every lesson and adventure with calmness.

His daily routines include mastering skills such as standing cross-tied for the farrier, navigating obstacles with ease, and finding joy in the simplicity of playing with tarps. His curiosity knows no bounds, from the rumble of tractors to the daily interactions with humans, who ensure he feels secure and confident. Days are filled with the freedom to run, the tranquility of sleep, and the delight of grazing on lush green grass or frolicking in the snow with his ½ brother Rambo.

This summer Iceman will embark on a new chapter – beginning formal training.  This ´First Step´ is an exciting prospect. Rambo’s journey began when he, alongside his half-brother Iceman, left Missouri for Canada at the tender age of six months. Leaving their mothers and embarking on a three-day journey by trailer with Nicole and Fred was daunting but an exciting experience for all.   In the 18 months living and growing up at West Gait Ranch, Rambo has demonstrated a consistent curiosity and playfulness.

Handled daily Rambo stands for the farrier, crossties, leads with ease and moves aways from pressure and understands voice commands. Eager to play and participate in any activity, Rambo has a friendly and self-confident character!
